History of Cavity Free Kids
A request from the Yakima Valley
Parents, teachers, home visitors, health and education coordinators and center managers of EPIC Head Start in Yakima, Washington worked side by side with the authors to develop a curriculum that fit the unique demands of Head Start.
Pilot classrooms were just the begining
It was piloted and revised, then adapted by the entire EPIC program that serves over 1600 kids at 14 sites in 3 Washington counties. Head Start programs across Washington were trained and began implementing - we continued to listen as programs expressed their needs and discoveries about what worked and didn't work on the "front lines."
Prevention must start earlier
Because of their feedback, we developed CFK: An Early Start for even earlier intervention and we revised the preschool curriculum.
From Washington to "the world"
Outside of Washington CFK is now used in Alaska, Hawaii, Oregon, California and American Samoa.
This is a "living" document and we view YOU as the best experts!
"We have listened to the people who have used our materials because they know what works for themselves and with real families."

President and CEO of Washington Dental Service Foundation
